COTSWOLD HILLS

A classic mix of hay-meadow flower and grass species ideally suited to our native insects

·       Ready to roll: Using meadow turf means most plants are rooted, established and ready to burst into flower from the first Spring, giving an instant hit of colour.

·       Classic look: A long-established style of planting, seen in grand estates and field margins across the country.

·       Great for bugs: Native flowers and grasses have co-evolved with native insects meaning these plants play host to a diverse range of butterflies, beetles, and solitary bees.

·       Self-replenishing: Our program of maintenance, including an Autumn cutback – allows the plants to naturally drop seed so the plant community adjusts and adapts itself to the site over time.

·       Reliable on low nutrient soil:  A lower nutrient soil makes for a more diverse range of plants.

Installation

(from £55 per sqm)

One of our cheapest mixes to install. After removing the lawn, we simply roll out the meadow turf over the area, and add in some extra Spring flowering bulbs.

Maintenance

(from £15 per sqm, per year)

We treat this as a classic hay meadow: A cutback in Summer once the flowers have passed, A cutback in the Autumn and an optional weed and/or cutback in early Spring. We ask that clients water their new meadows well for the first 3-month period (and Summer dry spells)..
